Govt defends ethanol blends, but admits '2-6% ' drop in fuel efficiency in certain E10-designed vehicles

The government on Thursday said E20 fuel offers cleaner combustion and smoother engine performance. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari admitted a 2-6% reduction in fuel efficiency in certain E10-designed vehicles. He said, "The same is influenced by several factors, including driving conditions, driving habits and vehicle maintenance," while defending the programme.
