Gov. Sherrill in the Hot Seat After U.S. Demand for Noncitizens' Names

New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill refused the Justice Department’s demand for personal details of 6,600 noncitizens found on voter rolls. Sherrill said, "The request had no legal basis." She blamed a software error from the previous administration for the registrations, which occurred between June 2023 and June 2024, causing political tension.
