Rewarding companies to do nothing is undermining Australia's climate cuts
The Australian government is spending billions on fuel tax credits for major polluters, undermining its own climate goals. Analysis showed the top 18 companies got $3.3 billion in rebates during 2024-25, while paying only $150 million under the Safeguard Mechanism. Dr Ken Henry said, "you've got to make sure that."
