Lok Sabha clears bill on banker's books without debate amid Opposition din

The Lok Sabha passed the Bankers' Books Evidence Act, 2026, on Wednesday amid heavy opposition protests. The bill allows digital bank records as evidence in courts. It replaced the 1891 law after a voice vote. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said, "Congress leader K C Venugopal is a good person."
